Here is exactly what Tacq does and does not do with your data.
What we never ask for
No phone number, no email, no real name. Your account is an anonymous Master ID generated on your device. You can’t be found in search or scraped into a spam database.
Nothing to leak, pass on, or sell
Because we never collect a phone number, email or real name, there is simply nothing for anyone to hand to a stranger, steal, or sell to spammers and scammers. The most sensitive contact detail — your number — never enters the system in the first place.
How your messages are protected
By default, messages and media are kept on secure cloud servers (Google Firebase infrastructure) and encrypted at rest; only a session’s participants can read the conversation (enforced by database rules), and we never scan it for ads or profiling. For anything especially private there are two secret modes — you turn them on yourself in a one‑to‑one chat. “Secret” — end‑to‑end encryption: the server sees only ciphertext and cannot read the message. “Top secret” — on top of end‑to‑end encryption, the content never passes through the server at all: it waits on your device and is delivered straight to the other person when you’re both online. A few limits to be aware of: the server still sees who talks to whom and when (notifications can’t work otherwise), and secret modes are one‑to‑one only. Secret conversations can be read on several of your own devices: keys and history travel straight between them, never through our server. Unlink a device and it stops receiving new messages — but what it read earlier stays on it: nobody can wipe someone else’s device remotely. “Top secret” works on one device only. There is no key backup: lose all of your devices and your secret conversations are gone.
What you control
Every contact is an isolated session. Rename contacts locally, selectively block a specific person’s ways to reach you (chat, audio or video calls), or block the session in one tap to sever the connection. And restore it later if you change your mind. A blocked contact can’t call you back “from another number”.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account; associated data is removed from our servers. There is no “forgot password” — a Master ID cannot be recovered, so keep your password safe.
