# Tacq > Tacq is an everyday messenger for family and friends, work and study that needs no phone number and no email. Each connection is a separate session you control: your own name in each session, permissions for each kind of contact (text, audio and video calls), and blocking of one session or all of them — reversibly. The other person can open an invitation link right in the browser, without installing anything. Tacq is free. Facts below were checked against the app on 18.10.2026 (version 1.0.181). When this file and the app disagree, the app and the Privacy & Security page are correct. ## What Tacq is - Messenger: one-to-one sessions, standing groups (with topics, polls, shared lists, schedules, documents, map) and event groups; text, voice messages, photos, video, files; audio and video calls. - Account: an anonymous Master ID and a password. No phone number, no email, no real name is asked for. A 24-word recovery phrase is the way back into the account if the password is forgotten or the device is lost. - Invitations: by link or QR code. A personal invitation link works once; the connection it creates stays. - Also: listings (classified ads) with replies that do not reveal your number, QR tags for things and cars (the finder writes to the owner without knowing the owner's number), and conversations with organizations. - Platforms: web app (any device with a modern browser, including iPhone and Mac), Android (Google Play or APK from the site), Windows. There is no native iOS or macOS app yet. Up to 5 devices per account. - Languages: English, Russian, Hebrew, French, Spanish, German. - Age: from 13. Listings and QR tags are available from 18. ## How content is protected - Messages are encrypted on the device before they leave, separately for each device of the recipient, in one-to-one sessions and in groups. The server passes them along without being able to read them and deletes them after delivery. Conversation history is kept on the users' devices, not on the server. - Attachments are encrypted on the device; the server never sees them unencrypted. - The contact book (local names, notes, tags) lives on the user's devices. - Push notifications carry no message content. - Two levels: "Encrypted" (default) and "Top secret" for one-to-one sessions — the content does not pass through the server at all and goes directly to one of the other person's devices when both are online. - Calls are encrypted (DTLS-SRTP); the call setup is signed by the devices. ## What is not hidden - To deliver messages, the server works with anonymous identifiers of the sender and the recipient and with the time of messages. Who is behind the identifiers the server does not know: Tacq does not collect real names, phone numbers or email addresses. - The source code is not public, and there has been no independent security audit yet. ## Key pages - [Home](https://tacq.app/): what Tacq is and how to start - [Privacy & Security](https://tacq.app/security/): what Tacq collects, keeps and protects - [Features](https://tacq.app/features/): what the app can do - [Use cases](https://tacq.app/use-cases/): selling by listing, events, protection from spam, QR tags - [Download](https://tacq.app/download/): Android, Windows, web - [Help center](https://tacq.app/help/): how things work, article by article - [What Tacq is](https://tacq.app/help/what-is-tacq/) - [Master ID](https://tacq.app/help/master-id/) - [Recovery phrase](https://tacq.app/help/recovery-phrase/) - [Top secret messages](https://tacq.app/help/secret-messages/) - [How Tacq protects teenagers](https://tacq.app/help/teen-safety/) - [Tacq for organizations](https://tacq.app/business/): talking to customers without collecting their phone numbers - [Privacy Policy](https://tacq.app/legal/privacy.html) - [Terms of Use](https://tacq.app/legal/terms.html) ## Open the app - [Web app](https://app.tacq.app/) - [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.tacq)
